Taking a screenshot on Ubuntu GNU/Linux is easier and faster than Microsoft Wiindows

Taking a screen shot in Ubuntu (and probably most GNU/Linux distributions) is basically by pressing your keyboard print screen button and then choosing where you want to save a PNG image of your screen without any additional applications required.

Steps:
1. Press Print Screen
2. Click on the Save button (or Choose a folder other than the default then Save)

On the other hand, In Microsoft Windows, you press the print screen, look for and open Microsoft Paint, paste and then save the image. Unless you use Microsoft Windows Vista, Paint will complain that your only choice for a good quality image is BMP which result in a image of few megabytes size hard to share (Paint version on vista has support for JPG and PNG).

Steps:
1. Press Print Screen
2. Open Paint
3. Paste
4. Save
(if using an older Windows than Vista and want to share this screen shot)
5. Open (after you look for and Install it) a program with an image format conversion option.
6. Save the new image

Now, For sure in this feature, GNU/Linux is a lot easier and faster. I suffered myself sometimes from Windows users who were asking for help and sending me 3+ MB image for each screen shot because they did not have an installed program for images conversion under Windows XP.
